This painting titled “My Pillow” was done in oil on canvas size 18X20 inches and completed in 2006. It took 10 hours to finish this painting. The size has increased from the previous image, “My room”. I have done number of paintings but the paintings that I am placing in this blog are that I like and feel are the milestones in my career. Slowly I will update the works. The subject is pillow. Whenever I look at this painting it reminds me of Rene Magritte’s “The Treachery of Images” which shows a “pipe” that looks as though it is a model of a tobacco store advertisement. One day I found my pillow very interesting its color, form and the pattern on the pillow cover. I felt that oil would be the appropriate medium to paint it. I really like the treatment of folding on the pillow cover and edges. Colors are yellow ochre, burnt sienna, white and blue. The composition was well established on the canvas.
